(EEG) Electroencephalograms are essential for the diagnosis of epilepsies and treatment of seizures. Twenty-five digital EEGs are networked throughout the hospital. Video-EEG recordings of seizures are stored for future use in the follow-up of treatment and clinical feature analysis. |

| Magnetoencephalography
(MEG) The magnetoencephalography measures and records change of magnetic fields associated with electrical activity in the brain. It is currently available in only a few places in Japan. |

| Neuro-imaging
Most activity in the radiology department is centered on cranial imaging. Types of imaging studies include plain imaging, DSA, CT, MRI and SPECT. All of these techniques help localize the origin of patients' seizures. |

| Blood
Testing A Blood level testing (for anti-epileptic drugs) is indispensable in seizure treatment. At the National Epilepsy Center, blood levels are usually available in a few hours after drawing blood specimens. |

| Psychology
Intelligence and memory, language / recognition, and personality tests are carried out at the National Epilepsy Center by qualified psychologists. The tests are used to identify neuropsychological disorders and for peri-surgical evaluation. |
